Action Plans

Action Plan 1: October 13th 2013

It’s been a while since I posted and I realised that I haven’t shared my Action Plan on my website.  Based on the audit I completed and posted on here, I have come up with a plan so that I know which areas I need to work on to improve my ICT skills.  As I work on these areas and improve I will update my blog regularly (hopefully) and share my progress.

1.  I want to revise and develop my skills using spreadsheets and databases.  I’ve never used a wiki before so I want to develop this by using the English wiki and I can also post my book reviews there.

2.  I need to work on my interactive whiteboard skills.

3.  I want to think about how I can incorporate ICT into my lessons.

Action Plan 2: January 19th 2014

The targets in my first action plan were:

1.  Revise and develop my skills using spreadsheets and databases.  I’ve never used a wiki before so I want to develop this by using the English wiki and I can also post my book reviews there.

2.  Work on my interactive whiteboard skills.

3.  Think about how I can incorporate ICT into my lessons.

I have addressed the first target by using more spreadsheets and databases.  I also posted a book review on the English wiki.

During GPP I was able to improve my interactive whiteboard skills.  I did a lot of research before I started GPP and I  downloaded the Smart board software so that I could practice using it at home.  I now feel quite confident about my IWB skills after developing them during my first placement.  I think IWBs are an extremely useful tool in the classroom.  They can help to keep the children engaged and motivated and help to make learning accessible to all types of learners.  It is important that the objectives of the lesson aren’t forgotten and the IWB is used as a tool to aid learning, not a gimmick to entertain the children.

I managed to incorporate some ICT into my lessons during GPP but I didn’t get many opportunities to do this.  I will talk further about my experiences during my placement in a separate post.  I think my target to incorporate ICT into my lessons should continue into my final placement.

ACTION PLAN 2

I have used the feedback I received on my website to inform the targets for my second action plan.

1.  Reflect on the ICT I observed and used during GPP and how I can improve for FPP.

2.  Reflect on ICT in the new national curriculum for 2014.

3.  Strengthen my E Safety section and improve my knowledge on informing children about staying safe on the internet.

4.  Improve my ICT skills using the “Pick n Mix” section on Blackboard.  I want to look at Mind Mapping, Green Screening and Animation.  I also want to look at the program Scratch and coding which I know is a key part of the new ICT curriculum.
